Purpose:
Heartcode BLS Online training is the most high tech, official American Heart Association (AHA) Self-Directed Comprehensive eLearning Program. It allows students to take the BLS course on a computer, instead of attending a traditional, classroom setting. By using simulation technology and scenario-based learning, studies have shown this to be very effective. However, it MUST be completed with a hands-on skills session.
Course Content
- Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
- Important early use of an AED
- Effective ventilations using a barrier device
- Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR
- Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants
You will receive your Basic Life Support Card for Healthcare Providers after the skills portion is completed.
Who should take this course? Those in need of INITIAL Certification or those with EXPIRED Certification.
Please Note for HeartCode Online Training: By taking the AHA Online BLS class, you will receive the same BLS Provider completion card as you would taking the traditional class. However, you will need to complete a hands-on skills session after the online class.
