PURPOSE:

Heartcode PALS Online training is the most high tech, official American Heart Association (AHA) Self-Directed Comprehensive eLearning Program. It allows students to take the PALS course on a computer, instead of attending a traditional, classroom setting. By using simulation technology and scenario-based learning, studies have shown this to be very effective. However, it MUST be completed with a hands-on skills session.

COURSE CONTENT:

  • High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR
  • Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention
  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds
  • Apply team dynamics
  • Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure
  • Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure
  • Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock
  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock
  • Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias
  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias
  • Post–cardiac arrest management

PALS Initial Certification:

You will receive your Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Provider Card after the skills portion is completed.

Who should take this course? Those in need of INITIAL Certification or those with EXPIRED certification.

Please Note for HeartCode Online Training (Blended eLearning): By taking the AHA Online PALS class, you will receive the same PALS Provider completion card as you would taking the traditional class. However, you will need to complete a hands-on skills session after the online class.
